Description/Job Summary- As a family owned business that has grown to one of the largest independent building supplies in the southeast, we are actively looking for manager trainees that will lead our company in the future. Our accelerated training program is designed to best prepare you for a management position with a defined career trajectory. As a growing company, we promote from within our trainee program, leading to quick advancement for our trainees into management positions. Usually within 12-18 months, a successful Manager Trainee is promoted into a management position at one of our 11 locations.
Responsibilities- As a Manager Trainee, you begin learning our business in three phases: warehouse operations, inside sales, managerial duties. We believe it is imperative to learn every role in our company in order to become an effective leader and manager. The Manager Trainee program includes on-the-job training and classroom instruction that will encompass all aspects of store management including: customer service, inventory management, human resource management, sales, marketing, operations, and developing excellent product knowledge in our field.
Other Responsibilities Include:
- Create material takeoff estimates in a timely manner.
- Supervise team members by assigning tasks.
- Develop relationships with customers.
- Train team members to improve skills and productivity.
- Communicate with team members through one-on-one discussions and team meetings to discuss safety, policies, and ensure communication is open between all levels of employees.
Skills/ Qualifications:
- Must be sales oriented and self motivated.
- Must be able to relocate regionally for advancement opportunities.
- Must have a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree. Business related field preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be able to work in warehouse conditions with the ability to load lumber, building materials and carry up to 75 lbs.
- Must be available to work an average of 48 hours per week.
- Must consent to background check.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
Hours of operation: Monday- Friday 7:30 am-5:30 pm, Sat 7:30 am-1 pm, Closed Sunday

Builder’s Discount Center is looking an inside sales representative that will work with our management team to increase sales by growing existing and new customer business. Developing personal relationships with our customers create a more positive shopping experience for everyone. It is a fast pace sales environment, requiring you to operate the sales counter to process customer transactions and answering sales calls. Our inside sales rep plays an important role in helping our customers select the correct products, ensuring quotes are accurate, and that all customer needs are met. Must have strong people skills and be highly self-motivated.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Take and process orders from customers.
- Generate new and repeat sales by developing positive relationships with customers.
- Create new sales opportunities with existing and new customers through calling and email.
- Determine customer requirements and expectations in order to recommend specific products and solutions.
- Recommend alternate products based on cost, availability or specifications.
- Accurately process customer transactions such as orders, estimates or returns.
- Recommend items needed by customers to increase customer satisfaction.
- Increase sales by up-selling and add-on sales.
- Keep showroom stocked, clean, and organized.
- Assist in scheduled physical inventory cycle counts.
- Present a professional image communicating in a respectful, courteous and ethical manner with customers, vendors, co-workers and supervisors.

Gateman position is part-time with set workdays each week. Responsible for checking and counting all outgoing materials in customers vehicles. Building material knowledge is required. Must be detail oriented. Position is popular for retirees with construction background.
Warehouse positions available for both full time & part time employees. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday (7:30 am-5:30 pm) and Saturday (7:30 am-1:00 pm). Full time positions average 46-50 hours per week, getting paid 1.5x for overtime hours. Full time benefits include medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401k, and Paid Time Off (PTO). Part time position vary from 12-25 hours per week and can lead to full time employment.
Must be able to work in warehouse conditions with the ability to load lumber, building materials and carry up to 75lbs. The position will be responsible for loading building materials into customers vehicles, operating forklifts to load/unload trucks, and keeping the warehouse clean and organized. Knowledge of building materials is recommended. We are looking for an employee that is self-motivated and hard working.
